Couples Therapy

Do you and your partner find yourselves arguing about the same things repeatedly? Have you lost the intimacy that you once had? Couples therapy can help build and strengthen the connection between you and your partner by learning the patterns that lead to conflict, resolving issues from the past, creating better communication and intimacy.

Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT): EFT focuses on how couples experience emotions with one another and how interactions are constructed. As an EFT therapist I believe that problems arise from how each partner unintentionally contributes to patterns of interaction, often leading to dysfunctional cycles of communication. I work to assess, empathize, and point out how couples are caught in a pattern that leaves everyone helpless and frustrated, leading to in the moment reactions that feel justified at the time. This pattern often leads to an escalating spiral of frustration, arguments, and increasing hurt feelings. By focusing on reaction patterns and emotions, often triggered by past attachment injuries, couples can learn to interrupt these dysfunctional patterns. Thus, increasing functional communication, emotional attunement, and intimacy.
